Cllr O’Reilly was elected on the first count in the 2024 Local elections with the highest number of first preference votes in Ballyjamesduff in history. Shane earned the highest number of first preference votes in the Ballyjamesduff electoral area in the local elections in May 2019.

Shane is a man of compassion, the married dad-of-five understands family and family values, while regularly supporting people at their lowest ebb due to his daily role as a Funeral Director.

He is record breaking in that has served as Cathaoirleach of Cavan County Council twice - 2014 and 2019 - all before reaching the age of 40 and was elected on the first count in the 2019 local elections. Cllr O’Reilly is a firm believer in positive engagement and positive action in his community.
