Cllr Noel Thomas, has served as a councillor for the past 10 years in the Connemara South electoral area, has a strong commitment to community involvement and local infrastructure improvements and is driven by his strong belief in listening to and representing the people of his community honestly. On joining Independent Ireland Noel said "I strongly believe that if a politician fails to listen to and honestly represent their constituents  then it is time for them to stand down,".

Cllr Thomas was re-elected in the 2024 local elections with 16% of the first preference vote in Connemara South getting the strong support of the people in his community who he stood to represent.
