Cllr Ger Dunne

Cllr Dunne was elected to the Naas Local Electoral Area (LEA) in 2024 local elections.

With a robust background in local governance and community service, Ger brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to his locality. Married to Catherine for 38 years and a father of four with ten grandchildren, Ger's roots in the community run deep. His professional experience and roles within SIPTU and the Irish Congress of Trade Unions have equipped him with the skills to effectively advocate for local needs, particularly in housing policy.

Ger has a long association with St David’s Boxing Club in Naas and an ongoing involvement with the local soccer club in Monread. Born and raised in Naas Town, he has also been a member of the Kildare Trades Council and is well known in the community. Ger's previous roles include serving on Naas Town Council from 2009 to 2014, and as Deputy Mayor in 2014. He has been an active member of SIPTU, serving as a senior shop steward and member of the national water committee and national sector committee. Additionally, he represents the Irish Congress of Trade Unions on the Kildare County Council Strategic Policy Committee on Housing.

Cllr Dunne shared his enthusiasm about his election, stating: “Naas is my home, and serving its people is my passion. I am committed to leveraging my experience and networks to enhance our community’s quality of life. With the support of Independent Ireland, and enough votes from the people I want to serve, I am confident we can achieve great things for Naas.”
