Cllr Geraghty, a devoted family man with a wife and son, initially took office following the 2019 Local Elections, marking the start of his contribution to public service. He was re elected on the first count in June 2024 having received 2,262 first preference votes - 18.19% of the total poll.

Beyond his political endeavors, since 2005, Declan, alongside his business partner Michael Donnellan, has spearheaded DG Roofing, a flourishing roofing retail venture based in Williamstown, Co Galway, providing employment for 22 individuals. His appointment as Cathaoirleach of the Ballinasloe Municipal District Council in August 2023 is a testament to his leadership and commitment to community service.
